Dr. Bauguss

Dr. Bauguss is a native of East Tennessee who was raised in Knoxville. His educational background includes undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville and the University of Tennessee - Memphis where he received his DDS degree in 1958. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and returned to Knoxville in 1961. He opened an office and practiced General Dentistry for eight years. In 1970, he entered the Ohio State University Graduate school where he earned his Certificate in Periodontics and his Masters Degree in 1972. He returned to Knoxville in 1972 and opened an office with his Practice Exclusively Periodontics. Dr. Bauguss has been involved in academics, research, writing and lecturing but he has mainly been a clinical dentist in the 40+ years since graduation. He has been involved with many organizations serving as President of several during his career.

His proudest accomplishment is being a recipient of "The Fellowship Award" in 2001, the highest honor bestowed in dentistry by his peers, for his contributions to his profession and the community.

Philosophy of Practice

Dr. Bauguss and his staff sincerely CARE about their patients and have a very simple yet endearing philosophy for their CARE, and that is: "Do unto others as you would have them to do unto you."

Our staff has the conviction that the patients treated by us are among the world's finest people. Furthermore, our staff is trained in the latest technology for the comfort of "our family" of patients.

We strive for a mutual understanding with our patients of joint responsibility regarding complete dental care. They understand their dedication to the care of their mouths is as important as the treatment itself.

"Our family" of patients also understands that in order to deliver optimum care, we must maintain our office on sound business principles. Therefore, they are willing to make and follow definite arrangement for the payment of their accounts.

Practice Scope

From his extensive continuing education and post graduate courses he attends each year, Dr. Bauguss' scope of periodontal treatment encompasses the latest techniques and modalities for the elimination or periodontal disease, yet he strives to be as conservative as possible in his selection of CARE for each patient. Dr. Bauguss' scope of CARE, in addition to the elimination of periodontal disease, includes:

• Dental Implants for the replacement of missing teeth
• Periodontal plastic surgery to enhance a patient's smile
• "Fresh Breath Center" for the treatment of Halitosis (bad breath)
